Barnstable Youth DANCE Classes

Ballet with Jane E. Caputo, Artistic Director

Artistic Director Jane E. Caputo offers classes in Ballet I through IV (en pointe).  Ms. Caputo studied with Edward Villella and Mimi Paul (NYC Ballet), Victoria Shifflett (American Ballet Theater).  Her teaching method is Vaganova-based with influences from the Royal Ballet School and the Cecchetti Method.  Advanced students will benefit from her Balanchine Method.

Students will be taught classical ballet with emphasis on technique, placement, posture, execution, musicality, ballet vocabulary (French), poise, grace, elegance and joy.

Performing is the ultimate goal and reward for the students put forth in technique classes.  In Repertoire class, the student uses the skills she or he learns in technique classes to master and execute steps and phrases in story ballet’s such as Dances in a Secret Garden, The Nutcracker and Legend of the Witch Moll Dyer. The students develop team work, cooperation, professional courtesy, discipline and poise, qualities that will remain with them throughout their lives.

Class assignments and pointe work are at the discretion of Ms. Caputo after a consultation with the student.  Ages indicated below are suggested. See page bottom for dress wear.
